Handcrafted 20" x 16" Ravi Varma Tanjore Painting. Raja Ravi Varma was an Indian painter and artist. He is considered among the greatest painters in the history of Indian art. His works are one of the best examples of the fusion of European academic art with a purely Indian sensibility and iconography. Thanjavur paintings are characterized by rich and vivid colors, simple iconic composition, glittering 22 carat gold foils overlaid on delicate but extensive gesso work and inlay of glass beads and pieces or very rarely precious and semi-precious gems.
